Over 80 members / family gathered for a social in the gorgeous afternoon sunshine at the Picton Harbour Inn to kick start our Spring outing to the Prince Edward County. After dinner in town, we started filling our flash cards with a great sunset vista at the Sandbanks Provincial Park.
The following morning, a 30 - car caravan formed up at 6.00 am and headed out to the Prince Edward Point. An abandoned tin house bathed in golden light along the way resulted in an impromptu stop while others pressed on to the Long Point lighthouse and bird banding station there. The warblers and other migrating birds turned out to be as elusive as the moose in Algonquin and some have to resort to shooting them while they were caught in the netting. A hearty country breakfast back in the Lighthouse Restaurant in Picton is followed by wine- tasting and exploration of the various landmarks of the county in the afternoon. A few remaining rusty cars and buses at the Minaker Garage in Milford also provided more photo -ops.
The Waring House certainly lived up to it's billings as it served up a delicious, gourmet dinner Saturday evening, in the Amelie Garden Room. All the happy faces in the posted pictures will attest to this and as for the food pictures, well, what else can I say?
An even earlier wake up on Sunday was made possible because we gathered at the only Tim's in town. And we caught another nice sunrise along the way as we revisited the Prince Edward Point.
Many thanks to Kathryn Murray, Ralph Grose and Colin Angus for suggesting shooting locations and last but not least, thank you all for sharing your images from the trip.
See you at the next outing to Killarney in the Fall!
