Please submit your digital essays on a CD to me at the club by 9 p.m. on the deadline above or put them in the drawer marked "Photoessays" located in front of the club on the left side as you enter. All Essays should have a completed entry form filled out (please download attachment).
Please attach this form to your CD or email it to me to the address above.
You may enter max of 1 essay, one in Pictorial OR one in Creative OR one in the Presentation Essay division(non-competitive). Please read the competition rules on the website as well as the following notes:
- Your essay must have a title, but a "title slide" in the essay is optional
- Make sure that there is NO identifying information (e.g. photographer's name) included in you essay
- Theme is open to your choice, you may add music, commentary or both, and can use any transition you choose. The only restrictions applying to both essay divisions is that it has to be less than 7 minutes in length (preferably shorter) and must be still images (no video)
- Essay file format should be compatible with an XP computer system (no Mac or Linux exe although the files can be produced on those machines as long as the final result is playable on an XP computer). If the essay does not run on an XP system and wish to bring your own equipment please let me know and also contact Mike Fellhauer, who will be running the equipment for arrangements (

- Essay should have at least a 3 seconds black slide at the beginning and at the end, if it doesn't it may be rejected or cause you to loose points as the first few seconds of the essay many not show on screen
- The convention for Photo Essays is:
Competition_Subcategory_Name_Title.Extension
e.g., PE1_P_Mary Brown_Historic Downtown Property.exe
where the parts are
Competition: an identifier of the competition name and number PE1, PE2
Subcategory: an letter code identifying the competition subcategory
P for Pictorial, C for Creative, E for Exhibition
Name: the name of the maker
Title: the title of the essay
Extension: the file name extension indicating file type
.exe for executable (e.g., from ProShow)
.pps for PowerPoint show
Other, for MPEG, WMV, AVI, MOV, etc.
Please use this convention on your form as well as on the file name of the essay!
All members will be welcome to enjoy the photoessay entries during the Monday night presentation on February 8th, 2009 when all essays will be shown and winners will be announced.
